거제시 가조도에 위치하는 가조 오션탑라운지는 바다가 펼쳐진 언덕 위에 정서향으로 자리 잡아, 거제의 바다와 섬 그리고 석양과 조화를 이루며 매우 아름다운 경치를 만들어 낸다. 클라이언트는 이곳을 편집샵이자 고객의 휴식공간으로 만들고자 계획하였으나, 공사가 거의 마무리 단계에 있어 인테리어나 공간을 재조정하기에는 현실적으로 어려운 상황이었다. 우리는 기존의 틀을 유지하면서 공간 디렉팅과 가구의 디자인으로 각영역의 성격을 규정하여 고객에게는 다양한 경험을 제공하도록 계획하였다. 가구 디자인과 재료의 특성 반영한 낙조를 품은 의자, 남해를 닮은 평상, 물결을 담은 가구가 각 공간에 배치되었다.

Gajo Ocean Top Lounge is located on Gajo Island, Geoje City. When I first visited the site, the building was in the final stages of construction. It was sitting facing west on a hill in front of the sea, and the beautiful sea, islands, and sunset of Geoje painted a captivating picture. The client had been planning this place as a boutique shop and a lounging space for customers, but it was practically difficult to readjust the interior or space as the construction was nearing completion. We planned to provide various experiences to customers by defining the characteristics of each area through spatial directing and furniture design while maintaining the existing framework. Furniture that reflects the characteristics of furniture design and materials such as furniture that embraces the setting sun, furniture that resembles the South Sea, and fumiture that contains waves are placed in each space.

오션탑라운지의 모든 공간은 바다를 향한다. 편집샵의 시스루 커튼은 풍경을 은근하게 차경하여 내부 공간에 집중하도록 돕는다. 화이트 톤으로 마감된 공간의 중앙에 놓인 메인 카운터는 목재 질감으로 마감하여 편안을 더함과 동시에 부재를 정교하게 조립하여 구성하였다. 카운터 주변에는 2종류의 진열대가 배치된다. 특히 물결을 담은 가구는 골강판을 마감재로 사용하여 시간의 변화에 따라 빛의 반사를 달리한다.

편집샵에서 한층 아래로 내려가면 바다와 더 가까이 면하는 두 공간이 있는데 각각 특징적인 가구가 놓인다. '남해를 닮은 평상'은 창밖으로 펼쳐진 다도해를 형상화한 가구이다. 짙은 파랑 평상 위에 놓인 섬에 기대어 바다를 바라보거나 함께 사람과 대화를 나눈다. '낙조를 품은 의자'가 놓은 공간에서는 함께하는 모든 사람이 온전히 바다만 조망하도록 계획되었다. 평상 위에 놓인 빈백에 몸을 맡기고 든든하게 서 있는 삼각형 형상의 등받이에 기대어 노을로 물드는 아름다운 바다를 감상한다.

All the spaces in the Ocean Tower Lounge face the sea. The see-through curtains of the editing shop help to focus on the interior space by subtly shading the landscape. The main counter, placed in the center of the white-tone finished space, was finished with a wood texture to add comfort, and at the same time, finely assembled. There are two types of shelves around the counter. In particular, furniture containing waves uses a corrugated steel plate as a finishing material, and the reflection of light varies over time.

If you go further down from the editing shop, there are two spaces facing the sea closer, each with characteristic furniture. 'The bench resembling the South Sea' is a furniture that resembles the Dadohae that spreads out of the window. We lean on an island on a dark blue flat and look at the sea or talk to people together. In the space where 'the sunset chairs' were placed in , it was planned that everyone together could only see the sea. Leave your body in an empty bag on the bench and lean on the triangular backrest standing firmly to enjoy the beautiful sea colored by the sunset.
